The entertainment industry has been revolutionized with the use of the computer. There are several methods of entertainment that are provided through the computer. Music files can be stored on the computer and can be used to playback the music when you are in the mood to listen to them. You will also be able to store various movies on your computer and watch them when you are free.

Entertainment on the move is provided by the computers too. As the computer is becoming smaller and smaller with much more functions possible, you are able to carry it along with you in your backpack. So, you will be able to use it to listen to songs and also to watch videos when you are traveling.

Video games have also become very popular as there are many interactive games available on the internet. You will be able to play the game not only against the computer, but you will be able to play with your friends who are thousands of miles away. This is possible because of the internet.

Computer is also used as a medium through which you will be able to interact with millions of other people all over the world. The social networking through sites like Facebook and Twitter has changed the way we live. Millions of people use these social networking sites for meeting new people and friends. This is a method that is used by many people to entertain themselves. All these are possible because of using the computer.

Smart phones are like any other computer. The hardware and operating system will define how well you’re able to use the Internet. You’ll need speed, storage, and security. It really doesn’t matter if your phone is a tool for business or pleasure, you still want to pick the one that’s the best value for your needs.

If It’s Good Enough For the President…

President Obama is the first American president to use a smart phone on the job. It was a huge security concern, but RIM is considered one of the most secure software development companies in the mobile phone field. Therefore, if safety is a concern, the blackberry smart phone is the perfect place to start.

As a leading business tool, internet access is fast and reliable. The blackberry is transforming from the business market to the consumer market, so gamers and casual users will be pleased with its fast and reliable performance.

Apps Make It Faster

Without a doubt, mobile apps are the fastest way to reach your favorite places on the internet. These little software downloads mean everything from games to weather and news are simply one touch away. There are over 400,000 to choose from. Even with convenient downloadable applications, a good smart phone still has to have powerful and fast processors and a robust operating system that interfaces with multiple platforms. Do the research. Will that phone get you to the website you love the most? Will it deal with that site’s features?

Finally, 3G and 4G networks are making connections fast and easy to reach from just about anywhere. Most smart phones also have a built-in Wi-Fi option, too. That gives you a choice when speedy surfing is a must.

An ISP or Internet Service Provider is a company that sells you broadband service. ISP give end users access to the Internet. Different ISPs have different services. It varies from service provider to service provider. Broadband service providers might provide end users modem, microfilters, and the necessary drivers to install software that gives users access to the Internet.
Three categories of broadband service providers emerge.

ASDL – ASDL is also expanded as Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. It is a type of Digital Subscriber Line technology that gives you Internet access over phone lines.

Cable – Unlike ASDL, Cable broadband uses twisted co-axial copper cables to deliver data to Internet users. A cable start at a CMTS (Cable modem termination system), and ends at it. The CMTS regulates the upstream and downstream data flowing from and to the modem.

Satellite broadband – Satellite broadband is Internet delivery using satellites. Satellites beam Internet data to antennas of end users or to a nearby tower station. Satellite has not been favorable on account of expensive set up costs and performance problems.

Now, you need to choose the type of broadband service you want. Do you want a satellite internet or a simple DSL connection? Do you want an ASDL connection that makes use of phone lines? You cannot expect great speeds over phone lines. Or do you want to go for cable connections? This is a popular way of Internet access and is widely accepted. The third is satellite based Internet service. You should go for this only if you live in an area where there are no phone lines, and no feasibility for laying a cable Internet service.

There is success in marketing, which is no longer a secret to many merchants and business owners. However, in the marketing strategy that involves search engines, there is much information needed to know, particularly those that involve how search engines like Google work for these clients. A Google SEO blog can share so much more than just understanding the hierarchy, laws, and algorithms that give sense in the services provided by SEO groups out there. They also share tips and most importantly, secrets that are only appreciated by those people who have the edge of comprehending what SEO is and how to master it for one’s advertising advantage.

A few of those secrets have something to do with knowing the real facts on what makes search engine optimization services work, and what kinds of methods can be used to optimize and even maximize its use to generate leads that have quicker and better results. A Google SEO blog have messages in between the lines, that becomes mysterious for people that do not have much knowledge on the kind of system Google uses in generating results for keyword queries. These secrets do not become so big for individuals that have the expertise of comprehending SEO and its processes.

The Internet isn’t just for kids. There are a number of fun activities that adults can do online. While yes, there are a number of adults that are spending their time making the most productive choices online, there are also times when an adult needs to relax and just have a little fun. Here are some of the things that an adult can do online.

The first is playing games. Sure, it’s a kids thing too, but playing bingo online is a great way to pass the time and have a little free fun. You can feel the excitement of winning, even if it only counts in your imagination. Of course it’s not just limited to bingo, but that’s just one of the places where the fun takes shape.

Movies are a great thing adults can do online. With services like Netflix, the internet allows streaming movies for free, and at a paid subscription. So if you are interested in watching your favorite movies from your computer to give yourself a break from the grind of a day then you should try it out. It can be a lot of fun.

Playing casino games online is a fun way to pass the time as well. You can play any number of fun casino games and enjoy every moment of it. Don’t let the day pass you by without playing a little poker, or a couple of hands of blackjack. It could be the most fun you have ever had playing.

These things are there for the adult so they can make the most of your day. It’s nice to have a little fun.

Wired keyboard or wireless keyboard? Which one do you prefer? Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages. Wireless keyboards are new generation keyboards. They look sleek, and are well chiseled. They can cut down clutter. You need to look after the wire that connects it to the CPU. Just imagine what it can do to a workplace. It can make your workplace truly uncluttered.

Wireless keyboards score high on convenience. You can sit far away from the computer, and yet operate it. A wireless keyboard will always be recommended for people suffering from eye problems due to prolonged exposure to computer screens.

A wireless keyboard has acquired a new dimension of use with the coming of age on Internet television. Since computers can be connected to television sets, you can control your television using your keyboard.

Now there is a small problem to wireless computers. It’s time delay. When using wired computer, your input is almost instantaneously responded to by the computer. But with a wireless keyboard it might be a little slow. Poor wireless connection called connection lag. So what you type on your keyboard might not come impromptu on the monitor. You might be tearing your head impatiently because of this.

If there are other wireless devices around, there could be wireless interference. Your connection will be interfered with signals for other wireless devices causing an input lag. Input lag might not be very evident when typing text, or doing basic stuff with the computer. But wireless computers are not suitable for games.

Wireless keyboards recharging. Unlike wired keyboards that get power from the computer, wireless keyboards need to be recharged often.

Do you remember the time when telephone calls were charged by the minute? People used to time their call so that they could utilize the maximum number of seconds before ending the call. You probably had aunts and uncles who used to stretch the talk to the 58th or 59th second before ending the call. Well, you probably thought such persons were very cheap and miserly.

However, such an approach can help you improve your internet speed drastically. How? Well, let us presume you are searching for a specific term on the internet, say your were looking for sites so you can start playing bingo online. If you find the result in the first few lines on Google’s search results, you can press the stop button on your web browser and prevent further data from being downloaded. You can then proceed to open the link that will serve you best.

Of course, you have no option but to proceed further if you have not found what you are searching for in the first few links. Why allow the entire page to be downloaded when you do not intend to use any link other than the one at the top of the page? Who says you have to use your mouse to press the stop button on your web browser?

Just hit the Escape button and your job is done. These are small things but will help you realize how badly you manage internet connection. If you have multiple tabs opened and if you are downloading data on each tab, can you really be surprised that your net connection is slow? Use such tips and options to save on your net connection usage and improve your speed

Bingo is a great game for all ages. Bingo locations aren’t open 24 hours a day, so those who need a quick bingo fix at any hour are turning more and more to the Internet. Bingo is a relatively safe game in the real world, but as with all online gambling, there are more risks when you’re playing against a machine. But with a little common sense and just a bit of know-how, you can be hollering out that winning word any time of the day of night. And yelling “Bingo!” is quite satisfying, whether you’re in a crowded hall or the quiet of your bedroom while on your laptop.

Staying safe while gambling online is easy if you use your head. First, you should decide whether you are comfortable playing for real money. There are so many sites out there that offer both options, so make sure you know that yours offers the option with which you are most comfortable. If you are playing bingo online for money, get comfortable using a third party site to transfer your money; a little extra safety is a good thing when dealing with a website for the first time. When you are finally ready to play, make sure you understand the rules of the games you are playing. Different sites offer different variations on the game, so it is important to know which one you are playing, particularly if you have money on the line.

Finally, make sure you have fun. If the game stresses you out or you’re nervous about your losses, it’s time to take a break. Have fun!

The keyboard is the best assistant for any person who wishes to become an expert in computers. The keyboard is the oldest way of inputting data into the computer. The mouse entered the picture only after graphical user interfaces became popular. Earlier, each and every minor command had to be typed in detail.

Needless to say, this was a cumbersome task which many programmers and computer users tried to improve upon. This is the reason why keyboard shortcuts were created where pressing the keys in a specific pattern led to the computer assuming that a particular command had to be executed. Combining Ctrl and C on your computer is enough to make the system understand that you want a particular file or particular content on the screen to be copied into the clipboard.

Why is it advisable to know and remember keyboard shortcuts? For starters, you can improve your working speed drastically by resorting to keyboard shortcuts. Pressing the Windows button followed by E, pressing the left button once and the down button twice will automatically take you to the 3rd drive on your computer. When you press Windows +E, the Windows explorer opens. The C drive folder tree is minimized when you press the left button. The screen shifts to the 3rd drive when you press the down button twice. Try doing this and try comparing the process with the time taken to activate the Windows explorer and moving to the E. drive using the mouse.

You will notice that it is virtually impossible to replicate the speed offered by a keyboard shortcut. Remembering these keys is not difficult provided you incorporate it into your daily usage. If you use these shortcuts again and again, you will automatically remember it even when you are working under high pressure. Use keyboard shortcut smartly and you will always get compliments at their speed as your hands move over the keyboard. Handling the keyboard is no different than handling of musical instrument. It is just a question of practice.

With the Internet, it’s very easy to make money in ways that you might not have thought of before. You don’t need a lot of resources to make money, either, so you don’t have to worry about spending a lot to get started. There are some things you can do that don’t cost anything, and other things you can address that don’t cost much at all. Affiliate marketing is becoming very popular, and you can do that with your own blog or website. Even people who just start up free blogs are putting affiliate information on them and making some cash. They aren’t necessarily getting rich, but some of them do very well. You can be one of those people if you study up on what you need to do and stick with it.

You may want to consider creating software, writing content or getting involved with online gaming. Of course, it’s important that you carefully research what you want to do, so you can work toward your goals without any easily avoidable problems. Investing your time wisely is vital, and so is having some kind of interest in the venture, whether it’s a website or an Online Casino. You can get involved with something you don’t really like or know anything about, but how well are you going to do at that venture? If you’re like most people, you won’t see as much success when you focus on something that doesn’t really hold your interest or that you don’t enjoy. Pick something you like and see how it can make money for you.

Cleaning a standard keyboard is not a very difficult task. You can unscrew the bottom and dismantle the device and clean it anyway you want. Opening the keyboard is not a smart move but you can give it a try if you are confident of putting it back together.

However, this option is not available when you were working on your laptop. The keyboard is an integral part of the laptop and cannot be removed individually. You will have to dismantle the entire device and that is a strict No-No unless you are a licensed technician from the manufacturer. You have two options to clean the laptop keyboard.

Buy a can of compressed air or use a vacuum cleaner to air when you are holding your laptop upside down. The burst of compressed air will be enough to push even the most stubborn dirt from the bottom of the keyboard. Since you are holding it upside down, the dirt will easily slip through the cracks and will be out of your system.

Another option is to make use of a small pen knife to remove each and every key. The individual key on the keyboard of the laptop is fitted using springs and hooks. You simply have to lift the key off the hook and remove it. Fitting the key is not very difficult. Just do not use too much pressure because even the slightest crack can leave you with a vacant spot on your keyboard.

If you want to avoid the entire complication of having a dirty keyboard to be cleaned, you can go in for wireless or USB keyboard specially designed for your laptop.

A wireless mouse makes use of radio frequency technology to transmit movement of the mouse to the computer through radio frequency waves. The wireless mouse has an inbuilt transmitter and the computer has a receiver attached. You can go in for a separate card that will be fitted to the expansion slots in your computer to receive data from the wireless mouse. The most common option used is to fit a small receiver to the mouse input slot in the computer.

The process works very much like a standard mouse with the only difference that there is no wired connection between the receiver and transmitter. The communication takes place through the wireless medium. Speed of transmission is very important because we are used to watching the motion of the mouse on the mouse pad replicated on the computer screen without any delay whatsoever.

Transmission of data is very fast when done through wires. There is a little scope for interference in the signal or noise as it is called. If you have a wireless modem, you may find your mouse’s usage affecting your internet speed. These are minor points but can detract from the overall utility and benefit that the wireless mouse offers.

The most commonly used to type of wireless mouse is the optical mouse. The setup in the mouse is pretty much the same to a wired mouse. There is an additional transmitter which relays the information to the computer. Laser mouse is a new introduced version and is highly precise and quick in responding. However, it is slightly more expensive and is preferred only by gamers and professionals who are prepared to pay a premium for precision

We often make use of a log-in password to ensure our private files remain private on our computer. This method is often used in office computers to ensure unauthorized persons do not access any computer desktop through the log-in.

The Windows operating system requires the password to be fed before loading the personal settings of the user. Only an admin can opt for an override. On the other hand, a guest can simply access certain general features of the OS. This security solution works well until you log in. Once you log in, it is rendered useless because the computer is open for any and everybody without seeking or needing any password.

If you were to log in with your password every morning and leave your computer attended, the net result would be the same as not having a password at all. Would it not be convenient if your computer asked for the password after specific time intervals? You can do this by requiring your computer to take you to the log in screen every time the screen saver is activated.

If computer activates the screen saver after five minutes of non-activity, any person operating the computer will have to feed in your password before he or she can access the system. This means that any unauthorized person will have to use the system before the screen saver is activated. You can instruct the computer to activate the screen saver in just 1 minute of non activity. This means that the unauthorized activity on the computer is virtually impossible.

What are the disadvantages of such a strategy? If you have a long password, you may end up typing it half a dozen times every single day. You may be sitting on your desk or may be on your cell phone and yet may have to type out the password again and again. Being security conscious is one thing but typing the same password again and again numerous times in a single day can be very frustrating.

There was a time a screen savers were essential to enhance the life of the monitor. If screen savers were not used, the same image would be shown on the monitor for a very long time at a stretch. With passage of time, the single image would be burned on the screen of the monitor and using the device for viewing other images would become difficult.

Well, this was a long time ago and screen servers are no longer an essential requirement. You can have the same image on the screen for many hundreds of hours at a stretch and there would be no adverse impact on the device. However, screen savers today have become a very popular form of entertainment. Having fishes play on your screen and chase bubbles can be fun. Watching worms eat the computer screen and replicate themselves can also be interesting.

You also have the option of using screen saver making applications that will combine numerous images and show them on the screen in any order you want. You also have the option of playing your favorite music in the background when the screen saver is active.

There are many persons who love screen savers to such an extent that they would spend a lot of time having the screen saver on the monitor. Well, you just have to search for *.scr files on your computer and create shortcuts for the same at a specific location. You can have the shortcuts on the desktop or even on the task-bar. Once this is done, you just have to activate the shortcut and the screen saver would be activated on your screen immediately.

This is a particularly smart option if you have used screen saver making programs to create a screen saver of your family members or your last vacation. Or, you can go along with the standard screen saver files installed in your system when the operating system is installed.

Microsoft took note of complaints against its operating system for being full of holes and flaws so seriously that incorporated the new User Account Control system in Windows Vista. Windows Vista was not just a cosmetic change over Windows XP. Rather, it sought to introduce a paradigm shift in the way individuals made use of the operating system.

What complicated the scenario was that the User Account Control system made it virtually impossible to carry out any activity on the computer without some message cropping up requiring user action. The basic idea behind User Account Control is very good. The system tries to seek confirmation about each and every change to the computer by seeking a clarification from the user.

However, people were not amused when the computers started asking questions whenever any program was run. What created the problem was that the user could never be confident about how the operating system would react when a particular program is installed or used.

As time went by, the condition became so bad that people preferred sticking to Windows XP and avoiding Windows Vista. Windows 7 did something that should have been incorporated in Windows Vista. The users were given the option of shutting down the UAC. Of course, this is definitely not advisable because the system works like an inbuilt spyware controller which helps you prevent unauthorized installation of software programs in an automated manner.

The best option is to make use of the default option which is slightly more secure option or the less secure option which will bring up prompts but will not dim your desktop or make it impossible to use the computer. The always notify option is going to lead to numerous message whenever any new program is installed or whenever the program does something new.

You must opt for this option only if you enjoy doing this sort of a thing. The never prompt option will disable the User Account Control system and is not beneficial.

Do you want to speed up your internet connection? Well, what steps you take when you want to lose weight? The first thing you do is go on a diet and reduce intake. The second thing that you probably do is to start exercising and increase outflow. This is exactly what you should do when you want to speed up your internet connection.

Try to download less and you will have more speed for the important data that you download. Secondly, try to prevent numerous programs from contacting the net connection for uploading data and you will have better speed.

Many feel that they will have to go in for a complicated firewall and make changes to the system to finalize this process. Not necessarily. You just have to make use of the right extensions in your Firefox web browser and your job will be done. Opt for extensions that prevent images and ads from loading without your explicit consent. Of course, the option of blocking images is built in the Firefox web browser itself.

You can block ads, videos, flash files and other such unnecessary content on web pages to ensure you do not download a lot of data. Since your web browser will be downloading text only, you will automatically enjoy high speeds. What is more, you will also save money on your internet usage charges. Since you are downloading less images and more text, you can get more bang for each and every cent that you spend for your internet surfing requirements. You just have to search for the corresponding application for other web browsers and you can use other web browsers without any speed worries

Although a cruise is supposed to be a time to get away from it all, sometimes you want to share the experience with your friends and family. Cell phones may not work on the ship, or you may have to pay for international calling. Further, letters and postcards can’t be mailed until you are on solid ground, so having access to internet on a cruise ship may be your best option.

When you consider that just a few years ago (1992 to be exact), which when you think about wasn’t all that far back) there was no widespread access to the Internet, and that even then, getting on the Internet and using it was much more complicated than it is now, this method has come a long way. Before then, the only way to communicate while on board a cruise ship was via ship-to-shore telephone or the ship’s communications system, if you were allowed to use it.

Now, however, with the ever expanding capabilities of the Internet, including Wi-Fi (wireless Internet services) it is possible to communicate with family members, relatives, and friends from literally halfway around the world. Even more astonishing is the means by which you can do it; laptop computers, which are no larger or thicker than a legal pad, and cellular phones, with Internet applications built right in, are just a couple of examples. All of these make it easier to use the Internet while cruising around the world.

This can bring tremendous peace of mind to those who want to check up on home whether it’s checking in with aging parents or young children that were left behind. Being able to check on them can mean a more relaxing cruise. And, if by some unfortunate circumstance an emergency should arise, you can keep family members and others informed of the steps you are taking to getting back home.

When you compare Broadband, you may get lost in the choices and all the lingo of processing speed and ‘mbps’ stuff, etc. But one thing remains true: it’s about money. That’s the one clear thing. You’ll just need to consider the experts and let them handle all the tough stuff while you make sure you have all your i’s dotted and t’s crossed on the financial end because you don’t want to screw yourself over. A monthly payment can be costly if you’re not keeping up.

That’s why for some, ‘bundling your Broadband’ is a simple, easy way to cover all the bases. What that means is simple: since Broadband services all areas of the home–phone, TV, Internet–most services allow a “bundle” service to combine it all into one special monthly payment. Typically it’s slightly cheaper than if you had to purchase each single service separately. That, of course, would make sense. Now, yes, that is a convenient way to set it all up. You get one single bill for your phone, cable, and Internet–no worries, no fuss, everything set up free and clear for you.

However, there is a slight disadvantage of which you need to be aware and pay close attention. The only issue with bundles is if and when the Broadband goes down for one reason or another. Think about the fact that it all originates from one single signal. If your service goes down temporarily, your entire necessities drop–phone, Internet, and TV. Now if you had separate bills, it wouldn’t be a problem. Furthermore, if you had difficulties paying your bill, once shutoff occurs, that’ll drop all three utilities in one fell swoop. Alternatively, if you have separate bills, you may actually find a way around it, and keep some of them on.

Consider “bundles” carefully and check your finances. It should help you make a well-informed decision.

Makers of computer operating systems can learn a lot from the way the human body is designed. Each and every person has the all the essential organs including the brain working as the central processing unit. How the individual wishes to use his or her assets is a matter of choice.

Open source operating systems rank very high in this regard. With sufficient knowledge and technical expertise, you can use the source code to come up with your own operating system with own minor and major specifications. However, that is not how Windows operating system works.

Windows comes with a predetermined set of options and preferences. Just take the shutdown menu in Windows 7 as an example. The default button is directed towards system shutdown and can make use of additional options given in the drop down menu as and when you require. If you want to restart your computer, you will have to press Start, go to the Shutdown option, go to the drop down menu and choose the restart option before pressing OK.

Needless to say, this can be a very frustrating task for a person who restarts the computer very often. Well, you can make use of the Start Menu Properties by right clicking the Start Menu and can make the necessary changes to your preferences. If you want, you can even set up hibernate is the default option.

Open source operating systems offer the ability to make numerous modifications. If you do not want the shutdown menu at all, you have the option of removing it from your start menu and adding it as a link on your desktop. The flip side is that there is virtually no standardization and you can end up with as many operating systems as there are computer users on the planet. This may sound very cool but can lead to numerous complications

Whether you want a street level view of a neighborhood in Paris or the latest news from your own community, you can find it all on the internet. News travels at the speed of typing, and doesn’t even take long when you’re confined to 140 characters on Twitter.

Beyond the news, you can find almost any product you could want on the internet, including merchandise from overseas. Better yet, checkout online reviews before you settle on a particular brand of crib for your child’s room. And when it’s time to put the crib together, count on the internet to provide instructional videos that show you exactly how to assemble that pile of wood and bolts sprawled across your little one’s nursery.

Aside from educating consumers on which brands to buy and how to put together almost any item that doesn’t arrive assembled, the internet also provides educational opportunities in a variety of fields. Many traditional universities now have a strong presence on the internet and offer online degrees; plenty of online educational programs have no physical campus, providing the full student experience exclusively in cyberspace.

For those who love humor, the internet is rife with comics and comic wannabes. Sites such as Cracked.com dish up videos, photos, and articles that will have you literally laughing out loud. On the other end of the emotional scale, people in mourning can come together to offer their memories and condolences to bereaved families through dedicated blogs, Facebook, and funeral home sites.

When you’re scrambling to throw together the sparse ingredients in your pantry, where else but the web can you go to find that special recipe that will let you pull them together into a tasty meal? And there’s a perk to recipe sharing online—you can come back later and review the recipe and even add your own tips for improving the process.

The ability to share content has revolutionized cooking, humor, and quite simply, everyday life!

When it comes to connecting to the Internet people have very few options. You can connect to the Internet via broadband access like DSL or cable internet, dial-up or wireless internet. Those are the only three types of internet connections that are available to computer users. However, there is a new type of Internet that takes the best of all three internet connections and combines them into one.

An internet connection by the name of WiMax would take some of the best features of all three internet connections and roll it into one type of Internet. WiMax would allow internet users to have the high-speed Internet access that broadband provides, the mobility that comes with wireless and wifi, and the large coverage zone that comes with wifi and broadband.

The way that WiMax would work is very similar to the technology behind a cell phone. A computer would be hooked up to a wireless card or a WiMax modem. These devices would pick up reception from WiMax towers that are built around the area. The towers provide internet service within a 30 to 50 mile radius. Since there is such a large coverage area that internet connection goes where the computer goes and is not stuck in one individual location. When a computer with a WiMax is turned on there is no need to sign into a tower or server. Instead the computer is automatically connected to the Internet when it is turned on.

It is believed that once the WiMax technology is further developed it could potentially replace broadband and wireless connections all together. At the moment there are still limitations and problems with the WiMax. The main problem is that of the coverage area. There are still a limited number of towers that provide WiMax so the continuous coverage that is promised with this internet connection has not been achieved yet.

If you use the computer a lot, chances are there are a lot of unwanted files and programs that are sitting on your computer. Every time you download a program and uninstall it a little bit of that program stays on your computer. Every time you visit a website or use a feature on an internet browser a little piece of that stays on the computer. In fact, there are hundreds of invalid links and program pieces that can make a computer run slower. With the help of a computer program like CCleaner, computer users can clean up all those files, broken links and errors that cause a computer to run slower.

CCleaner is a downloadable computer program that is developed by Piriform. CCleaner is what is known as a donation program. It is free for download and use but the makers of the program will ask that you make a donation to help keep the updates and other features of the program free. Donations can range from a few dollars to 20 dollars – whatever you can afford to donate.

CCleaner works by cleaning up a wide range of computer programs and broken links. Here is a look at just some of the items that CCleaner will clean up off your computer.

Unwanted Program Files. When you download a computer program it puts files onto your computer. When you delete that program it will still leave little pieces of the program on your computer. CCleaner will delete those left over files.

Temporary Internet Files. CCLeaner will delete any and all internet files from your browsing history, caches, cookies and any other data that can come from internet browsers.

Registry Errors. CCleaner will find and fix any Windows registry errors. Registry errors cause the computer to run slower.

Delete Other Files. CCleaner will also delete a number of other files. It will delete log files, empty the recycle bin, clear out application files, and clear file fragmentations.

Would it not be wonderful if we could make a copy of the ideal furniture arrangement in our house and replicate the same without any complications whenever we shift to a new house? This is wishful thinking because such an option is certainly not available in real life. However, you have the option of making a copy of not just your essential fares but your operating system and drivers all at once.

You can use this copy when you were reinstalling your operating system. Instead of just the operating system installed for scratch, you will have a full fledged and functional over us with all drivers intact in your hard disk in perfect sync with the original setup. What is the fun in restoring a flawed version of the operating system?

Well, you can take a backup of your system when it is working perfectly properly and you can burn the copy to your DVD. Once this is done, you can make use of the right software application to import the entire operating system. The biggest advantage of such an approach is that you save a lot of time.

You would not be installing the operating system from scratch. Rather, you would simply be placing a copy in the hard disk and the copy would do the rest. When the computer reboots, it will work as if the operating system was never deleted.

You can make as many copies as you want depending on your choice of operating system and programs. The only factor that you have to consider is adequacy of space and integrity of data. If you allow the DVD to get scratched, your backup can be rendered useless and you will have to install everything from scratch all over again. The best option is to have a good backup stored safely.

For a long time you could only access the Internet if you were on a desktop computer that was plugged into your phone line. Then came DSL and the revolution of the wireless router. Now there are a lot more options when it comes to getting internet access, even when you are not at home.

Finding a Wi-Fi connection is one way you can access the Internet when you have a wireless card inside your computer. All you have to do is go within range of a connection and your wireless card will detect the connection. Sometimes you will have to put in a password to use a connection, but other times you can access the Internet without any password. Some metropolitan areas offer Wi-Fi connections to their entire cities, while other cities have designated Wi-Fi- spots, like at hotels, restaurants, hospitals, libraries, and other community places. McDonald’s is famous for having a wireless hotspot in all of their restaurants. The greatest thing about Wi-Fi connections is that they are free to use; you just have to be careful about what information you make available to the public since these are usually unsecured connections.

Some newer cellphones also have the ability to create a hotspot with a 4G connection. This is cool because you only have to pay for your cell phone service instead of both cell phone service and internet service. Some cell phones have the ability to support up to eight other devices, which is probably more than you’ll ever need.

At home, you’ll probably still want to subscribe to an internet provider, but you’ll also want to buy a wireless router to turn your entire home into a hotspot. This will enable other family members to access the Internet with their laptops, even while you are online on your desktop. It is fairly easy to set up a home wireless hot spot and it doesn’t cost very much extra either.

For 2011, several new wireless routers have been released. The first one is from Netgear and is an 802.11n Gigabit router. It doesn’t stop there though, introduced as their premium wireless router the WNDR3800 is designed with high performance gaming and streaming HD video in mind. Additionally the router comes with a feature called “Clear Channel Selector” which has the ability to keep your wireless network off busy channels so you can avoid interference and other associated problems that plague saturated Wi-Fi channels.

Also introduced is “Ready Share Remote” which will allow you to access data on an external hard disk via one of the unit’s two USB ports. The USB ports can also be used to attach a printer allowing printing from any wireless device on your network.

One other new router from Netgear is their DGND3700. This isn’t simply a router, its it also a serious ADSL modem built to work with nearly all major DSL ISPs. Because both the DGND3700 and the WNDR3800 are in the same family, with the exception of the ADSL modem, both share nearly all the same feature sets. Both of them support dual band Wi-Fi so they can offer both wireless G and N networking at the same time.

Both are gigabit compatible and have features such as DNLA compatibility, meaning they can stream content to DNLA compatible devices such as the Xbox360 and PlayStation 3. If that wasn’t enough, both routers have extensive parental controls, and for users who engage in a lot of streaming content or downloading, there is a bandwidth meter that not only logs your usage but also has the ability to alert you when you approach or exceed that limit. Whatever the case may be, these two routers offer a huge feature set and should have the ability to satisfy even the most demanding users.

If you connect to the Internet via a wireless connection then you know that wireless interferences are a part of the internet connection. Sometimes the interference is caused by someone walking by your WiFi signal with a cell or cordless phone, someone deciding to play the radio near your wireless router, or your neighbors’ wireless signal interferes with your wireless signal. If you are tired of having to face the constant dropped internet connection, there are a few things that you can do to avoid the dreaded internet interference. Here is a look at some of the things you can do to try and clean up the wireless interference.

Change Your Cordless Phone. The most common type of wireless interference is the cordless phone. Most cordless phones come with a 2.4 GHz frequency and that makes them interfere with your wireless internet connection. To avoid the wireless interference make a change to a cordless phone that uses a frequency of 5.8 GHz or 1.9 GHz. These cordless phones are less common and therefore will be less likely to interfere with your wireless connection.

Change to a New Channel. All wireless devices work on radio waves. There are thousands of different radio channels that allow your wireless device to work. If you notice interference in your wireless connection try and switch the channel that your wireless device is using. It is recommended that you try to avoid using the highest and lowest channels as those are the most popular. Changing the channel works with almost all types of wireless interference, but it works really well for interference of neighbor’s WiFi signals.

Stay Away. The best way to avoid wireless interference is to prevent it from happening in the first place. This can be done by keeping all wireless objects as far away from each other as possible. This will avoid the risk of having their radio frequencies interfering with each other.

People are constantly striving for bigger and faster internet connections, and so over the years many options have been developed to give you a choice of what type of internet connection you will utilize. Here are some of the options that are available to you:

Analog Internet: Also known as dial-up access, this may be the economical choice but it is also pretty slow. It involves using a modem that connects to your computer using a phone line. The original internet connection was the dial-up connection, though many people still rely on this type of internet connection because it is so cheap to use.

DSL Internet: DSL is known as an always-on connection. It relies on an existing 2-wire copper phone line that is connected to the premises and so it does not tie up your regular phone line in the way that a dial up connection would. You do not need to dial into your ISP, because your DSL connection is always on.

Cable Internet: A cable modem will provide you with a broadband internet connection designed to use cable television lines to operate. The way that this internet works is through using TV channel space in order to facilitate data transmission, and some channels are used for downstream while others are used for upstream.

T-1 Line Internet: This is a leased line option that businesses frequently use to connect to the Internet, and so many ISPs use it as well. T-1 lines actually consist of 24 different channels, and each of these channels is capable of 64Kbits/second. Each channel is capable of being configured so that it can carry either voice traffic or data traffic. Many telephone companies will allow you to purchase just some or just one of these channels individually, which is regarded as fractional T-1 internet access.

When you purchase an internet connection, you are trusting that the company that is providing you with Internet that is providing you with the Internet speed they promised. However, how do you know if you are really getting the internet speed that you are paying for? A recent study showed that 50% of internet service providers were not providing customers with the internet speeds they were paying for. This is why it is a good idea to check your internet speeds regularly.

There are two ways to check your internet speed. The first way is to run a manual check. This can be done by clicking on the Start button in the toolbar. From the Start menu choose Control Panel and then Networks and Internet Connections. Locate the Network Connections from the box and right click on the connection that is active. Select Status from the menu which will bring up a box that shows you exactly what bandwidth speed your Internet is using.

The second way to check up on your internet speed is to run a test online. Tests online will allow you to choose a predetermined location and it will test how long it takes a simple download and upload to get from your computer to that location. Websites like Speakeasy, SpeedTest and Mcafee all offer free internet speed tests that you can use. When you are conducting these tests it is a good idea to try several different locations as it will allow you to get an average idea of what your internet speed is.

Once you have the speed that your internet is really running at, you can take that number and compare it to the promised speed that your internet service provider claims to be providing you.

Wireless networking products have become so cost-friendly and ubiquitous that pretty much anyone can set up their own WLAN in only a matter of minutes with equipment costing less than $100. The widespread use of these wireless networks means that there is going to be an increase in the number of potential intruders that could be lurking within the vicinity of your home WLAN or office WLAN. As such, it is important for you to consider the security offered by your wireless router so that you can protect your internet connection from prying eyes.

Secure the wireless router or the access point administration. When you have an administrator password required in order to log in to the device, it makes it more difficult for people to get in. Change the password, though, because the default password is typically pretty weak.

Do not broadcast your SSID. If your router or access point is continually broadcasting the name of the network or the SSID, then any wireless systems that are within range are going to be able to find it. Turn off the broadcasting so that your neighbors and other people will not be able to see your network.

Enable WPA rather than WEP encryption. The WEP encryption has well known weaknesses, that unfortunately mean that someone who is determined can crack that encryption and access your wireless network connection. Use WPA, or Wi-Fi Protected Access instead for a much stronger level of encryption. WPA also happens to be easier to use because you have a wider range of password choices for better security.

If there are no other options, use WEP. WEP encryption is definitely better than having no protection at all, so if you have devices that are only compatible with WEP, you should definitely still use it even though it is not as strong as WPA in terms of protection.

When your computer is brand new it seems to run smoothly and boot up fast. As time goes on, your computer gets slower and slower. If you are currently experiencing a slow computer, there is help. You don’t have to throw your computer out and get a new one. Try one of these simple steps to get your computer up and running like new again.

Clear your cache and cookies. When you surf the Internet, temporary files of the websites you visit are stored on your computer. Over time, enough of these temporary files could slow your computer down. Simply clear the cache and cookies and get rid of any temporary Internet files and your computer should start performing faster.

Check for viruses. Viruses and spyware have a tendency to slow computers down. If you suspect you may have a virus, run a virus scan. If you find a virus, spyware, or malware, get rid of it immediately. To get rid of the virus, you may actually need professional help. Avoid getting viruses by installing anti-virus software. This will keep potentially dangerous viruses off your computer.

Empty the recycle bin. Another simple step you can take to speed up your computer is to empty your recycle bin. You may not even think to do this, but the files in the recycle bin are still taking up space on your computer. Empty the bin to free up some disk space.

Get rid of unused programs. You probably have programs on your computer that are never used. If you do, go ahead and delete those programs. Like emptying your recycle bin, this will free up some memory.

Try one of these simple steps to improve the speed on your computer. If you are still having issues, it might be time to take your computer in to have a professional fix the problem.

Microsoft does not offer as many opportunities to modify the operating system as Linux and other such open source OS do. However, even critics of Microsoft point out that users of the operating system rarely bother to explore it to the fullest. Do you know that you can revert back to the standard Microsoft Windows 98 version as far as visual performance is concerned?

If you don’t want the fancy new task bar and if you want to a performance oriented approach on your computer, you just have to make use of the right settings to revert back to the traditional setup. Right click on your My Computer icon, go to Properties, go to Advanced and click on Performance settings. If you opt for a complete a performance based approach, all animations and visual modifications will be disabled and you will have our plain system that will run a top speed. On the other hand, if you want to jazz it up and enjoy good visuals, you can go in for a completely appearance oriented approach and enjoy results accordingly.

You also have the option of modifying the individual facets and aspects. For example, you can have the Start Menu slide out and save on power. Further, you can have the task bar restored to the traditional setup and improve performance. Do not make the mistake of thinking that the such modifications will not have our big impact on your performance.

You may not notice it immediately what you will find computer responding faster to your instructions just because these unnecessary improvements have been done away with. Rather than criticizing Windows for its lack of functionality, you can try exploring the operating system properly using online and offline resources to improve your user experience

The first thing you must think about when buying a laptop is what you want in your computer. How much RAM you need and what type of screen dimensions you seek. Choose a screen that is compatible with your eyesight, and make sure that you have enough of a screen to handle whatever purposes you intend for your laptop. You can also choose external features like the colors or design of your laptop, because there are many different styles to choose from. You have to decide what size processor you want in your computer, because the size and speed of your CPU will play an important role in the capabilities of your laptop computer. All these little details play an important role in choosing the right laptop computer for your needs.

How much space do you need? How much RAM? If you do not know what these things means, then it is important for you to do your due diligence and do some basic research on what matters in choosing a laptop computer. You do not want to go into this process with your eyes closed. Go online and perform a basic search to understand these different concepts so that you can make informed and educated decisions about your laptop computer purchase.

Once you choose a brand that you like, or a specific type of laptop computer, you can bring a list of needs and wants to the store. Play with the various laptops that are available to you, try out the keyboards, the screens, the basic specs, and decide which laptop feels most comfortable for you. When you experiment with and test out different laptop computers, then it becomes easier to figure out which is most comfortable for you. With all of this combined information, you should be able to choose a laptop that suits your needs so that you can make an intelligent buying decision in the store.

In the last 15 years, the Internet has altered the way businesses are run. Many of the original “successful” online businesses proved to be little more than flashy slogans that excited investors. The true power of the Internet was revealed once businesses understood the model and used online sources to communicate with customers. It’s worth noting that many of the hundreds of online business tools are free.

Selling a product now means building a relationship with customers and letting them know that someone inside the company cares about them. Before the Internet, hearing from consumers in a meaningful way often meant spending money on focus groups or unreliable mail surveys. Free online surveys improve upon this model and provide businesses with the input that’s necessary to improve products and processes. Even though people cannot be forced to provide feedback, most people want to share their opinions. A free online survey is a powerful tool for business owners to determine the exact needs of their customers and ways they can improve sales.

Providing customers with the means to express their opinions is an important step in establishing a positive online presence, but building relationships requires more than just a single positive exchange. Companies need customers to see them as more than just a place to do business. Repeat customers enjoy their shopping experience because it makes them feel comfortable, like they’re doing business with a friend.

With the popularity of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media tools, it’s imperative that businesses have a presence on these sites. People are more understanding when something goes wrong if it appears that company executives are listening to them. It’s also important to have a website that offers fresh content and a great search engine optimization team. This will ensure customers can find you when they search for keywords that are relevant to your business. It’s easy to see that the Internet is a powerful business tool, if used properly.

Online bingo sites, Facebook games, Wikipedia–all of it seems pretty harmless, but might it lead to something more for our children in this day and age of convolution toward the rise of technology? It seems like the sky isn’t even the limit. They can now reach as high as the universe all on their own. Just logging in, a couple searches on Google, and they’re linked to the world, and it’s so easy! Decades ago, all children did was play with boxes and paper. Nowadays, they’re chatting on Java applets and learning how to create bottle rockets all on their own. Should we be worried?

On the one hand, better technology does mean better security. Our kids can be better protected all because of technology. Even as they surf the web and are open to a lot more danger in the world, the ability to monitor and survey online for possible predators is plenty easier than if they were walking down the alley after school, approaching a man carrying candy. However, how would you feel about chip implantation in your child’s body to better monitor location? Might make them seem like ‘products’ or something.

That ultimately brings out the rather uneasy feeling that someday soon children will have the necessary knowledge to accomplish their own computer hacks. With enough knowledge and skill in learning, the world might have little Neos from “The Matrix” running around, taking over everything, and at these young, tender ages, learning is intensified. Technology from a certain standpoint can act like a loaded gun. Could that be our future?

There will be no way to predict. Appropriate technology is something to be experienced and experimented on to see if it will be a hindrance or a help to the betterment of humanity. The major point to keep in mind is this: humans are not technological beings. So let us keep technology as a tool and not a replacement.

Do you have numerous kids in the house who want a personal computer each? Well, you must understand that your kids are not bothered about computing power and performance. Rather, they just want the ability to customize the appearance of their desktop and themes. Make necessary modifications to the operating system and permit your kids to have different themes from scary monsters to Barbie doll in the same computer and everybody will be happy.

Encourage them to have their own passwords so that nobody can pry into their private stuff. Of course, you can always use the back door through the Windows folder to access all their files if you feel something is wrong. Once you set this up and permit your children to make the necessary changes, they will be so happy with the performance that they will forget they demanded a personal computer.

How can you do this? Well, simply set up different admin accounts for each and every user. A different account combined with a unique password means that only the person who knows the password can access the account. Further, the wallpaper for the primary admin account need not be used in all other accounts. Each and every admin account can have its own wallpapers, screen savers and other such modifications. Even the shortcuts on the desktop can differ.

The only factor that you have to consider when opting for such a setup is to ensure important programs are installed for all users. If you install certain programs only for the primary user, other users cannot access the same as this can affect quality of user experience.

You should have the option of customizing the program and make it available for all or install the program again. It is not just a question of satisfying the kids. This approach can be used to separate your work profile from your personal profile

There is nothing more frustrating than having to wait for your Internet browser on your high speed Internet to load. Before you throw your computer or go out to purchase a new, faster computer. There are several things you need to understand about why your Internet speed is so slow.

Your Internet service provider, ISP, number is the faster your Internet speed can go. It is unrealistic for the Internet speed to always perform fast. Some fluctuation occurs resulting in various speeds throughout various times of the day.

There will be certain times where the Internet will seem extremely slow. This may not be because your ISP or your computer is slow, but because so many people are using the service at the same time. Some of the peak times are early in the morning just before people leave for work, around noon for lunch, and into the evening after dinner. The slowest times are during the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. work times when people are hard at work and during dinner when most families sit down together for a meal. There is not much ISP can do about these peak hours other than making their Internet faster.

If your Internet speed is slow during the down times when people are at work, the problem may not be the ISP but your computer. It is possible that other hardware and software on your computer is slowing down the Internet’s performance. If you can uninstall the program or hardware without affecting your computer, it may be wise to do just that. If you do not have to have the hardware or software running while you are on the Internet, turn it off so that your Internet can perform faster. If you are still having trouble with your Internet speed, it is time to run a speed test program often available on the Internet.

No one likes to wait for their Internet browser to load. If you are no longer using dial-up, (do they even offer dial-up anymore), your Internet should be loading fast depending on your ISP speed. It is possible to run online Internet speed tests to determine if your Internet is running as fast as it should be. If you think it is not, here are four simple ways to increase your Internet speed.

First, check the way you get online. Your Ethernet cord makes it possible for you to connect the Internet.

Even though it may seem simple, double check where your cords are plugged in. If you use wireless built into your laptop, hold down the wireless button until it either comes on or goes off. It may be necessary to refresh your wireless connection in order to get a better speed.

Second, it is important to know how much RAM your computer has because not having enough RAM available for your computer to use can cause your Internet to slow. This happens if you have other programs like music players or movie players like xvid up and running. If they need RAM to work it can limit the amount of RAM you have available.

Third, maybe the problem is not your Internet, but your choice of Internet browsers. Not all browsers are fast like they say they are. Mozilla Firefox is one of the fastest and safest browsers available keeping you safe online as you quickly get from site to site.

Fourth, if you have a Windows Pro computer, your settings may be keeping your pages from loading quickly. This is because 20% of your bandwidth is reserved for other uses. This includes Windows updates and protection against spyware. Change the settings by clicking Run and type in gpedit.msc. Find Computer Configuration, expand the Administrative Templates, click Network, and click the tab labeled QoS Packet Scheduler. Enable Limit Reservable Bandwidth, change the bandwidth to 0%, and click apply. Restart when finished making changes.

Have you ever wondered how fast your Internet really connects? There is a great way for you to check your computer’s performance against how fast your Internet service provider says your Internet connection should be. One way to test your speed is to use an online speed test such as speedtest.net.

To determine what online speed test you should use, you will want to pick a registry that is local to your area. You do not want the test to be half way around the world. Your test results will be flawed.

On speedtest.net, you are able to determine the service or registry closest to you to use. You will have to adjust the settings before running the scan. In the top right hand corner, click Settings, click Preferred Server, and then click Save to change your settings. You will be able to adjust the time zone, date format, speed measurement, and distance measurement all with a click of a button.

Speedtest.net is a simple and quick test. If you are look for a more complete tool, MyConnection PC Lite is the speed test for you. It is a Windows product available for use on their website. Never download any tests from third-party sites. They are breeding ground for viruses.

Before you do your test, you are going to want to know what your theoretical optimum speed is. When you receive your results, you will compare that number to what your ISP tells you it should be. If the upload or download speed is 30 to 50% below that amount, you need to contact your Internet provider. Ask for instruction and tips for improving your Internet speed. It should be wise to run a virus and spy-ware scanner before running a speed test because viruses can affect your Internet and its connection.

The Internet gives you the ability to find anything in lighting fast speeds; you can stay in contact with your aunt across the country and easily look for the recipe to make homemade lasagna, but your anticipation and motivation can be ruined if your browser takes several minutes to appear. There are ways you can make Internet Explorer perform faster and help your get closer to chatting or cooking.

Did you know that it is possible for your past web browsing history to slow down your Internet? It is possible. Internet Explorer records the websites you visit and places them on your computer for easy access. Long after you have forgotten about the website you visited last Tuesday, the browser stores the history. There is no need to keep more than a week’s records. You can easily go into your history and delete them.

In order to prevent the history browser folder from filling up, it is possible to reduce the number of days your browser records your history. In IE click on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the General tab, look for Browsing history, and then click Settings. Under Settings, you will located History and change the Days to keep pages in history to 1. You can exit out of the program.

Another way to improve your Internet speed is not to save Encrypted websites. These websites save passwords, but they can also use up a lot of space. In IE click on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and click the Advanced tab. In the setting box, you will scroll down to Security and unclick the Do no save encrypted pages to disk. You can exit out of the program after that last step. You will notice your computer is working faster with just these two small changes.

Think back to how your computer used to run when you first brought it. Chances are your computer sped through the Internet, pulled up programs and applications and moved at the speed of light. However, after a few months your computer probably started slowing down and it would take longer and longer to surf the Internet, start up the computer or start various programs and applications. This is because all activities on the computer will eventually start to slow down the computer. Luckily for computer users, with just a simple download you will be able to clean up your computer and have it back to running at the speed of light.

A program known as the Advance SystemCare will fix any slow computer and bring it back to the speed demon it was before. It is a powerful program that will help take that slow computer and optimize it, clean it up and bring it back to the quick running computer it was when you first got it. Advance SystemCare is available for computer users free of charge. There is a premium version that can be purchased for a small fee and offers access to other programs.

The way Advanced SystemCare works is that it takes several parts of the computer that are known to contain problems that will slow down any computer and fix it with just a click of the mouse. These areas include scanning and fixing any registry errors, cleaning out any registry files that are left over from deleted or old programs, deleting old Internet history and even offering a defragmentation program that will help shift the hard drive around and run faster.

The Advanced SystemCare will also run scans for known spyware and adware that could be on the computer and slowing it down. The known spyware and adware definitions are updated daily which means that the latest spyware and adware programs will be included on the list.

Wireless Internet makes one’s life so much easier. However, there are times when the wireless connection just is not working correctly. Here are 10 ways to improve your wireless connection in order to get faster Internet.

First, if your router if not centralized in your home, you should move it. Centralizing your router allows more areas in your home to get a wireless connection on your laptop preventing blind spots around your home. It also prevents people from using your wireless without your permission.

Second, your router should be off the floor and away from walls because the route’s signal can be interrupted. Metal objects such as metal filing cabinets, racks, or desks can also interfere. Keep the router away these objects for a strong signal.

Third, it is possible that your router’s antenna is no longer properly if every room is not getting wireless. The antenna enables the wireless to flow in every room making it possible for everyone to do their homework, watch online shows, and surf the web. If your antenna is facing the wrong way, it could be sending signal in the wrong direction. For a stronger signal, purchasing a hi-gain antenna will push the signal in one general area.

Fourth, if you have a big house, it is possible to extend the length of your wireless capabilities by purchasing wireless repeaters. They work by boosting the signal strength. It needs to be halfway between the wireless access point and the computers that will be using the wireless. ViewSonic, Linksys, and Buffalo Technology are just some of the companies offering wireless repeaters.

These tips make it possible for your wireless Internet to connect smoothly and easier. You do not have worry about your Internet not connecting after applying these steps to your wireless connection. You will have a strong signal every time.

Your computer might be running slow for various reasons. What you need to do is determine if it has always run slow or if this is a new problem. That way you can determine whether it is time to buy a new computer or have a computer repairman fix the problem.

The following are possible reasons your computer may be running slow:

You have a virus – This is probably the most common reason why your computer has suddenly started being slow. You can install anti-virus software to try and remove the virus, but you might have to call a professional to clean up your computer.

Your internet connection is out of date – If you are using a dial-up connection, this is definitely the reason your Internet is running slow. You should switch to a different internet provider.

Your hardware is no longer compatible with the market – Old computers sometimes have a hard time running because new software and hardware is no longer compatible. If your computer is more than five years old and running really slow, you might want to consider just replacing.

You have software running in the background – Sometimes having too many programs running at once could be the reason for a slow computer. All you have to do to solve this problem is open less browser windows and focus on just one or two tasks at a time. Otherwise, you’re going to have to buy a computer with more ram to support your multitasking habits.

Your router needs to be replaced – The router is the mechanism you use to connect your computer to the Internet. Sometimes it needs to be replaced because it gets broken, overheated, or just plain worn out. When you replace your router, you should see an improvement in your internet speed.

Do you have a slow connection that keeps you from being able to work and surf quickly on the Internet? Have you tried everything you can think of to make your Internet speed work faster but are still seeing no results? Do you live in the country where Internet service provider options are minimal? Here are three tips to increase your working time on the Internet to help make your experience more enjoyable.

First, if you have to email multiple files to a client, family member, or friend, save some time and compress the files. Using this tool is useful because you are putting all of your documents, pictures, or music into a single folder and uploading that folder to an email message. To create a compressed folder, right click on your desktop, move your mouse over New, and click on Compressed (zip) folder. Then to make things faster think about getting a FTP program like FileZilla which is an open source free software for File Transfer Protocol.

Second, if you have to send an email to more than one person, create a group and type in their emails. This will save not only you time when you have to email your contacts again, but also it will cut down on the amount of time your email takes to send out. By simply clicking on your contacts in your Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. email, you can click on pre-made contacts to put them into groups.

Third, for Internet connections at are patchy or can be lost throughout the day, consider saving the websites you visit on a regular basis to your computer’s desktop. You probably did not know that by saving it to your computer you are able to look at the site even if your Internet is down. Simply click on the File tab in your browser and click on Save Page As. If you are unable to upgrade to a quicker and better Internet with an Internet service provider, use these times to save you time as you wait for your connection.

It is hardly possible to go into public and not see someone using their laptop. Wireless hot spots have made it possible to get more work done in situations that are more enjoyable. Instead of putting work off during lunch, you can take your group to lunch and continue working into the lunch hour. It is important to have strong Internet protection set up for computer especially if you are going to download important files. Here are three tips to remember in order to keep your surfing successful, faster, and safe.

First, make sure your computer is protected with virus and spyware prevention security. Wireless connection can be vulnerable to online threats. If you do not connect to a secure wireless connection, you are more at risk for being targeted. Restaurants, libraries, and airports are less likely to have a secured connection because it would make it harder for their customers to use their wireless.

Second, make sure your firewall is up and working before you connect to a wireless connection. Even if you are using a secure file sharing program like Ares Galaxy, a firewall gives you another layer of protection against online threats. If a firewall is turned off, it can lead to various problems to your computer and Internet connection. It is even possible that your online connection can be slowed because of threats.

Third, make it harder for hackers to view your folders by making them private and if possible encrypting them. Window Vista already protects your documents and files when you create and save them. In order to double check your security settings, right click on a folder or document and click Properties. Then click on the Security tab and you are able to look at your settings. It is possible to control who looks at the file and what changes they are able to make to the document. On a Windows XP computer, click on Start and select My Computer. Click the drive and select Documents and Settings. From there go into each folder and then right click document you want private.

Trying to determine the best broadband Internet provider to go with can be confusing and time consuming. There are so many options available, but in order to get faster Internet you need to do a little research before making a final decision. Two of the most common broadband Internet is Cable and DSL. More people are turning to these providers for more options than just TNT or the USA network on Cable. Let us look at the differences between Cable and DSL and how it can affect your Internet speeds.

Comparing the two broadband capabilities, Cable without a doubt usually has a higher promised bandwidth than DSL. Cable sees about 30mbps bandwidth where DSL hardly makes it to 10mbps. Millions of bits per second or mbps is how broadband Internet is measure. The high the mbps the faster the Internet will be. If you are promised a high number, it is important to note that this speed will not always meet the promised high bandwidth. Different circumstances interrupt and keep the bandwidth from performing fast all of the time.

These circumstances affect both Cable and DSL Internet providers like any other Internet provider. Even though Cable is usually promised at a faster bandwidth, it usually does not live up to the promise. Several situations affect Cable that does not interfere with DSL. If too many people are using Cable Internet, it can cause the Internet to be slow. It is similar to countless people trying to log-in into Facebook or Twitter at the same time.

Both Cable and DSL connections can change quickly from one minute to the next. The Internet can be fast, loading pages quickly and then all of a sudden, your browser cannot load the email you just opened. It has a lot to do with too many people trying to get online at the same time.

The Internet is a wonderful invention. It makes life so much easier. It’s simple to quickly research a school project, look up movie times, or even check the weather. The Internet has certainly made information more readily available. With all of this ready-access information, there also comes danger. Take a look at five tips for keeping your computer safe.

Install anti-virus software. For just a few dollars a month, you could protect your computer with anti-virus software. There are many options on the market today that will offer a simple software for a small fee every month to watch for anything that could harm your computer.

Change your passwords. If your password is “password” or “1234,” now is the time to change your passwords. Make your password something that isn’t easy to recognize or guess. Mix letters and numbers in your password.

Watch out for free downloads. You can find many free downloads on the Internet. In fact, you can find everything from music to books to software available. Be careful when it comes to free downloads. You want to only download software or music from a trusted site. It you don’t know the reputation of the website, don’t download the material.

Monitor your paper accounts. If you use online banking or online bill pay, it’s a good idea to check your paper statements and accounts about once a month. It’s very convenient to bank online, but if you aren’t checking your statements, you never know if a thief has gained access to your account.

Don’t share sensitive information. It might seem obvious, but many people actually share their passwords and other sensitive information. Don’t do it. Keep those things to yourself. Some secrets are better left as secrets.

The Internet, while a wonderful tool, is also full of hackers and spammers waiting to steal your important information and harm your computer. Fortunately, there are ways to protect your computer.

First, check your broadband router settings to determine if they are responsible for how slow your Internet is. The router is the center of your Internet connection and it can cause interruptions. If the MTU setting of the router is set too high or too low, it can disrupt the connection and the strength of the signal.

Second, inferences with your wireless connection can affect your Internet speed. Depending on where your router is located, household appliances and walls can mess with the signal strength. Even your neighbor’s wireless can infer with your own.

Third, online security threats can also cause your Internet speed to slow as you try to connect and even browser different websites. Internet worms are designed by hackers to get control of your connections and can enhance network traffic from your computer. You need to be running your anti-virus software programs regularly to keep these problems from occurring.

Fourth, it is possible for the equipment such as routers, modems, or connection cables to be broken. This can cause your Internet not to connect properly. You will want to take a close look at every part of your router and any cables that could be damaged.

Fifth, your Internet could be loading slowly because of programs running on your computer that you are unaware of. This can happen when you start or download programs and then forget that they run in the background. This also happens when you have programs start up with your computer such as the program icons in the right hand corner by your time.

Sixth, you may not have any control over how slow your Internet connection is because it could be your Internet service provider’s (ISP) problem. When your ISP changes their settings or network configuration, it can cause connection problems and make it hard for you to connect to the Internet.

It is easy to get a computer from the store, take it out of its packaging, and turn it on in no time. However, there are several steps required for each computer owner to do before using their new computer. These steps are often overlooked but can save you a lot of trouble in the end.

First, it is extremely important to protect your computer from viruses and malicious worms found online. Even before using your computer, make sure to install a virus protection program. In new computers, you can usually find security software that usually requires an online registration. If you have a Mac, you are less likely to have viruses on your computer. However, this does not mean you are completely free from these viruses. Before using your computer, make sure to turn on your firewall software to protect your computer from online worms.

Second, make sure you download any updates from Windows (if you own a Windows computer) or any software updates from Mac (if you have an Apple computer). Make sure you complete the whole installation process.

Third, download Adobe Flash. This will allow you to view websites that run by this software. Visit their website to download the software. Also, remember that Flash will continuously send you updates for this software.

Fourth, delete unnecessary and unneeded software. Most Windows computers come with programs you do not need. Delete them to save some space on your computer that you can use for other things. To do this, go to the “Control Panel” and “Uninstall a Program.”

Fifth, use Vista’s Windows Easy Transfer or Mac’s Migration Assistant when trying to transfer your files from your old computer to your new computer. In addition, it is important to remember regularly to run a defragmentation on your computer to make it work faster.

The Internet has opened up many opportunities for people to make money, but like most things on the Internet, it may turn out to be a double-edged sword. This means that while there is plenty of money to be made, there are also scams. This is part of the online world and Internet users must be wise when they use any sort of website. This is especially true when it comes to sports betting sites. When using these sites some people prefer to use a couple of betting strategies in order to stop themselves from losing too much money.

Exercising caution when it comes to online gambling is very important as most people are using their own money to place bets. One way to do this is to be wary of certain aspects of gambling websites.

First, users should be wary of sites that offer free money to get started. A lot of gambling websites offer users free bets. The downside to this is that the minimum bet amount required is usually more than the free bet money they are giving away.

Any website that says a person has a one percent guarantee of winning a bet should not be trusted. Gambling means that users are taking a risk. Most people who are placing a bet are aware of this and no reputable gambling site would make such claims.

Users of betting sites should keep an eye out for odds that seem too good to be true. Generally this type of scam is run by companies that are not reputable.

Sports betting is a very popular industry and many people are trying to make some money by doing this. Future gamblers should spend some time finding a site that they consider to be legitimate, reputable and easy to use. By doing this they will reduce the risk of falling victim to a scam.

One way to improve your Internet speed is to delete records from the address bar of your browser. Your browser will record every address your type into the address bar, that is why it is possible to type in part of a well-used website and it comes up.

To clear out the address, you will need to click on the Start and select Run. If you cannot find Run, you can type it into your search box. When the Run box comes up, type in Regedit to open Registry Editor. When in the editor, be careful to follow these instructions. If you delete the wrong information, it will prevent your laptop to start up. Click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER at your left. Click on Software, then Microsoft, then Internet Explorer, and then Typed Urls. When the websites appear, you can select and right click on the websites and select Delete.

Another way to increase your Internet speed is to remove the junk websites save to your computer to help your browser remember the information when you return. To delete, use the Registry Editor, select Software, then Microsoft, then Internet Explorer, and then Menu Ext. It is also possible to delete the information found in the folder by right clicking and selecting Delete.

Finally, clearing up your Internet history can keep your connection from being slow. Your computer stories every piece of information it comes across online that it may need in the future to help customize different sites to your liking. To remove Internet history, temporary files, cache, and tracking cookies, click your Start menu, select the Control Panel, select Network and Internet Connection, select Internet Options, of the options window click the General tabs, click Delete Files and Clear History to clean up your Internet history and watch your Internet speeds increase.

Do you ever notice that sometimes your Internet speed loads your Internet browser quickly and other times it takes several minutes for it to load? There is a feature called broadband patches that are free to download and they are supposed to help your Internet connection speeds to improve.

Broadband patches are able to improve your Internet’s speed, performance, and consistency. There are a number of ways your Internet speed could be affect and patches are just one way to help fix the problem and improve the speed. Patches make different changes to your network settings. Some can change the settings in Windows Registry. Some change the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) setting while others change settings the MTU size. The changes depend on what changes may need to be done. Look below at three tips to consider before downloading broadband patches

First, you need to remember to download broadband patches that will be able to work with your computer system. It should also be for your network configuration.

Second, make sure to do a little research before you download a patch. If you cannot find any information about the patch, it would be wise not to download it. Look to well-known companies such as Microsoft for patches that can fix your slow Internet speed. There are also patches available to fix bugs. Always download the broadband patch from the original website just as you would virus protection software. This will lessen the chances of downloading a virus instead.

Third, become familiar with your operating system. As you download the patches, do the changes manuals so that you can see which changes work well and which do not. It would be wise to keep a detailed record of the changes you make in case something goes wrong and you need to go in and reverse the problem.

You have tried everything you can think of to improve your Internet speed. You have restarted the router, checked for damaged cables, unplugged the cord and restarted your computer. When you are expecting fast Internet and you get a slow moving browser instead, you want to figure out what the problem is. Slow Internet may not be a network connection problem, but it could indicated problems with your own computer.

Your computer’s registry could be the reason you have not only slow Internet but a slow computer. The registry is response for various settings of the computer and if something is wrong in the registry, the whole computer will have difficulties.

The registry is important because it is where your computer saves website information so that it can use it again when you visit the site again. It stores a lot of information and sometimes you need to go in and delete the unnecessary information. If your computer continues to crash or run slow, an overcrowded registry maybe the problem. You should not only be clearing the your cache records, but you should also be regularly cleaning up your registry.

There are two ways you can clear up your registry. You can either go in manually and delete the files or your can download a registry cleaner to do it for you. The problem with doing it manually is that if you do not know what you are doing you can actually make the situation worse. If you delete the wrong information it can cause the laptop to not even boot back up after shutting down.

A registry cleaner can be obtained by downloading it from online. It does three different steps; it scans your registry, it cleans, and it makes any repairs needed for the registry to work correctly. It is important to do research of the best registry cleaners before just downloading one.

Everyone wants a fast computer. No one has time to wait around while your computer is thinking. Because of this, here are some ways you can speed up your computer.

Make sure your computer has a fast CPU. Some even install more than one CPU to speed up the computer’s thinking process. Also, remember that dual and quad core CPUs, which normally have 3.6 gHz, are faster than single CPUs, which gave around 1.6 gHz.

Check your RAM, which is your computer’s memory. A regular Windows PC will have 4 gb of RAM. If your computer is older, it will not have that much and you will have a bad experience with graphic intensive gaming and watching movies on software like vlc media player. If you find that your PC has less than 4 gb, you can buy a higher RAM and install it to your computer.

Remember that different internet browsers work at different speeds. They also come with different features. Some of the internet browsers out there that are common today are Firefox Mozilla, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera. Choose an internet browser that is fit for you and your needs. Remember that Opera is known for its speed but it is also been watered down. Google Chrome is a new internet browser that has gained popularity for its simplicity and speed. Mozilla Firefox has a lot of add-ons or features. While this may be good for some, it can take a toll on your speed. Remember to close any toolbar that are in your window that you do not use. These toolbars only take up speed. Also, if you find yourself needing these toolbars at any time, you can download and install them again.

Your internet connection will also affect your internet speed. Wireless internet is generally slower than those using Ethernet cables. If there are other devices using your wireless internet, then this will slow your internet speed.

An Internet Speed Monitor is an Internet browser add-on that is considered a “browser helper object.” You will find an Adware toolbar on top of your browser. It is installed in your computer system mostly by the adware known as BndDrive. This is the cause of a continuous flow of pop-up ads when you are online. These pop-up advertisements contain the title “Internet Speed Monitor.” When you see this, you know you have this feature downloaded to your computer. The ads can be annoying as it just pops up uncontrollably. This is extremely common in Internet Explorer browsers. When you open Internet Explorer and open another window to view websites, pop-ups come up. As this continues to happen, your computer’s performance will suffer. This can also damage parts of your computer.

Because of this, you must make sure to delete this adware from your computer immediately. Unfortunately, this is one of the hardest things to delete from your system because this adware recreate itself. It also makes hidden files that are hard to find and delete. Unfortunately, it will take a long time before your computer system is completely free of this adware.

Start your anti-spyware program and do a run through test on your computer. This will find all files that are damaged. You can also do a “run” test on your computer by clicking on “Start” then “Run.” Search for “regedit,” which is Windows Registry Editor responsible for storing information vital to running your computer, and delete all files labeled “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareInternet Speed Monitor” that come up. This will delete adware from your computer. You will need to be careful what you delete in the Registry Editor or it could damage your computer.

However, make sure that this does not come back to your computer. Once you see it pop-up again in your Internet browser, repeat the scan. In order to keep this adware problem from reoccurring, install a virus scanner on your computer.

Everyone hates slow internet connections. There are speed tests available that you can use to assess your Internet connection bandwidth. This is important to know before you make changes to your network connections that will give you the increased speed that you want. A speed test gives you an assessment of your network connection’s performance. They use sample data files and test internet servers.

Internet speed is measured by kbps or kilo bites per second. This is based on how 100 bits of information moves by the help of your internet connection. One bit is the smallest measurement of information in the digital world. Remember that 8 bits is made up for one byte of information.

You can go online and take an online speed test. Many websites have free online speed tests you can use to assess your internet connection speed. Through these tests, you can see the how fast your connection is expressed in numeric values. These tests take into consideration things such as network congestion and all activities of your computer that ultimately affect your Internet’s speed. If you have, other downloads while you are taking the online speed tests, these will have an effect on your results. The result of the internet speed test gives you the time it takes to take in a certain amount of data from the Internet.

This is also a good idea for you to double check the bandwidth of your internet connection through these online internet speed monitors. This way you can double check if you are really getting the bandwidth you are paying for. In addition, you can assess whether the bandwidth you have is really, what you need. If you find that it is not enough, you can upgrade your Internet connection by contacting your Internet provider.

Whether you are upgrading from dial-up to a better connection or thinking about going wireless, there are many different types of Internet connections you can chose from. The two popular connections are Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the connections.

Ethernet is the hard-wired network that helps connect you to the Internet. No matter what laptop you pick up, you will find a connection port for an Ethernet cord. The Ethernet cord is inexpensive and is easy to buy. An Ethernet connection is simple and easy to configure and set up. The connection is fast.

Unfortunately, using an Ethernet connection is not always great. The Ethernet cord limits how far your computer can go so moving from the desk to a chair across the room is not easy to do. You also have to have the cord connected to the Ethernet router in order to get Internet. Having wires makes it hard to hide the fact you use them. It can be a hassle if you plan on having multiple computers in your house. This is typically a good resource if a laptop stays dormant.

Wireless Fidelity or better known as WiFi or wireless network makes it easier for everyone in your family to use the connection without having to be in the same room. There are no wires meaning no mess and hassle. You can be working in your office and than take your laptop to the kitchen to listen to as you prepare dinner. Wireless gives you the ability to do more with your laptop.

Just like Ethernet, WiFi has cons. A laptop connects to wireless through signal. Signal is limited and not every area in your home can connect. It is much slower than Ethernet and is not also easy to set up and configure. There are always more measures you have to take to protect yourself because your wireless connection needs to be secure.

If you are waiting around for your Internet browser to load websites, it is time to look into why it is taking your Internet connection so long to connect. Sometimes it is your Internet connection itself, your computer, or even the browser that you are using. Here are several tips to increase your Internet speed.

Getting a better browser can solve all your Internet problems. The fastest and safest browser is Mozilla Firefox. It is free and is known for its safety measures. Firefox uses an add-on called “foof” to keep annoying pop-ups from distracting you. It is common for viruses and spyware to be intertwined in the data of the ads. Firefox stops the threats before they even start.

With Firefox, it is also possible to configure the browser to run faster and be safer. One way to do this is called pipelining. In the browser address bar, type”about:config.” This will prompt a page telling you that by “Doing this can void your warranty.” You want to make sure to follow the directions carefully. They are easy to follow. After progressing past the warning window at the top of the page, type “pipelining.”You will want to double click on all of the options that appear. Do not select maxrequests.

With maxrequests, change whatever number appears to eight. By changing the number to eight, you are giving Firefox the ability to perform at its maximum speed. This helps your connection load faster.

You can also increase the amount of memory Firefox uses. Only do this if you will only be browse and not running any other programs. In Firefox, type “about:config” in the address bar and then type in “browser.cache.” Select the option “browser.cache.disk.capacity” and select a higher number than the 50,000 default number. Do not go too high; instead double whatever the number it regularly was. You can also get an add-on called Fasterfox. It helps Firefox perform faster.

There is nothing worse than a computer that is slow and sluggish. When you have work that needs to be done, or even if it is just time to check Facebook, a slow computer can really get in the way. If your PC has been slower than normal lately, take a look at some tips for speeding up your computer.

Clean up your disk space. Clear any Internet browser files, empty the recycle bin, and get rid of programs you never use. Look into the free software you have downloaded. If you are not using it, get rid of it.

Download programs. Sure, you need to get rid of free downloads to speed up your computer, but that is only when you aren’t using the program. In fact, there are free downloads that can help speed up your computer. SpeedItUp is a free download that may help your computer to be speedier.

Check for spyware. If you have not been using virus protection, then there is a big possibility that your computer is infected with spyware or a virus. Both of these nuisances will slow your computer down and could potentially ruin your hard drive.

Use memory friendly software- It is a good strategy to replace programs that take a lot of memory with memory efficient counterparts. Some good programs that you might consider having are, Open Office replacing Microsoft Office, and VLC replacing Windows media player.

ReadyBoost. If you run Windows Vista or Windows 7 on your machine, you could try using ReadyBoost. This is a program that can speed up your computer by adding memory. You can use a flash drive to improve your computer’s speed.

Repair errors. You can defragment and run a disk cleanup to find any errors in files. Sometimes errors in files can slow down your computer.

Speedy File Transfers and Web streaming- Some programs that might speed up file transfers over internet are Filezilla to transfer files from one computer to another and Ares for peer to peer file sharing. For having speedy web streaming you can think about having Xvid codec.

If you have tried the tips and tricks here and your computer is still running too slow, you might want to take your machine to a computer tech. There could be something seriously wrong that needs to be checked out.

Macs are known to be protected from viruses and Trojans. This is mainly because the creators did not release their code information like Microsoft did. Whether you are using a Mac for its slick look, light weight, or protection from viruses, you still want your Mac laptop to load Internet websites quickly. Just like any other laptop brand, Mac laptops can experience slow Internet speeds. Here are some tips to increase your Mac’s Internet speed.

First, close any programs that you are not using and do not need to be up. The more programs you have opened slower your laptop will be. You will also want to check your dock and make sure there are not any programs you forgot about still open. Not all programs shut down when you exit out of it by clicking on the red x, you may need to manually shut down the program.

Second, the more tabs or windows you have open on your Internet browser the slow your computer will run. Both your RAM and central processing unit are in use. If you need a lot of windows open, there is a resource you can use to minimize the amount of windows you have. By downloading “Read it later” your browser, you can go back to the webpage later. It is like book marking a page.

Third, try turning off your Airport or Internet connection and starting it back up. Sometimes your slow Internet connection can because you just have a bad connection. By restarting you Airport, you give it a chance to fix it self. Also, try shutting off your modem. Even shutting down your Mac for a couple of minutes can help restart your Internet.
Fourth, it may be time to upgrade to faster Internet service provider. If you are still using dial-up and you can upgrade, look for an ISP who provides a broadband or DSL Internet connection. Also, call your provider report the problem.
